Home-School Agreement

At Stile Common Junior School we believe that in order for a child to learn and thrive happily and successfully, it is important to maintain a close relationship between home and school. This agreement is part of a partnership and will enable staff, parents/carers and children to make a clear commitment to working together and a paper copy is available from the school. The School will:	~ fulfil the school aims ~ keep parents informed about the work their child is doing ~ provide a broad and balanced curriculum which challenges and motivates pupils ~ let parents know if there is a problem with attendance ~ have a set of school rules which create a safe and caring environment for everyone ~ ensure that all staff, children and parents know what behaviour is acceptable ~ reward good behaviour ~ keep parents informed of our arrangements for Out of School Learning (OoSL) and provide suitable advice ~ make sure that parents/carers have information about their child’s progress and behaviour ~ arrange two meetings a year for parents/carers ~ provide mutually convenient times throughout the year to meet with parents/carers to listen to concerns and do our best to help
Home will try to:	~ support school in fulfilling the school aims ~ take an interest in what their child is learning ~ praise their child for effort and good work ~ make every effort to ensure that their child attends school regularly and on time ~ inform school as soon as possible about any absence and the reason for it, and provide a note on return ~ give praise at home for good behaviour at school ~ work with school to find solutions in cases of unacceptable behaviour ~ offer help and support with learning at home ~ encourage their child to read regularly ~ make sure materials borrowed from school are returned ~ tell school about anything which might affect their child's work or behaviour ~ talk with teachers about their child's progress ~ raise concerns directly and promptly with school
Pupils will try to:	~ come to school ready to learn ~ work hard in lessons ~ attend regularly and arrive on time ~ keep the school rules ~ do Out of School Learning (Homework) and bring it back to school on time ~ read regularly and return books to school ~ take home letters, notes and reports to give to parents or carers ~ talk to parents or carers and teachers about any worries in school ~ be polite to the adults who work in school ~ follow instructions

Parents and teachers share the same aim in wanting the best for the children in our care. We are all part of the same team working towards this aim. We therefore welcome parents into school at any time. A 'phone call first can ensure that the person you wish to see is available. We also welcome parents as helpers in the classroom. You may have specific skills which we would value, such as wood -working, baking, sewing, knitting, gardening etc or simply be willing to help out with general classroom activities. Please get in touch with the headteacher or your child's class teacher if you feel that you can help in any way. Due to new government regulations it will be necessary for any adult working in school to sign a form requesting a thorough check by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB). This is of course to ensure all the children's safety.
