About the Fun Run The Fun run is where the whole school raise money. The money is put towards things like paying for coaches for when year 5&6 go swimming, for when people from the theatre come to perform for us and much, much more. The races The first race is the year 2s race; they do half a lap. The second race is the year 3s & 4s race; they do 1 lap. And finally it's the year 5s & 6s race and they do 2 laps. There are lots and lots of great stalls like the tombola, bric-a-brac, decorate a biscuit, a chocolate fountain and much, much more. Mrs Barff also sets a theme e.g. a summery picture, a winter picture etc. and people can pay 50p to draw a picture. It's a competition, judged by everyone at the event, and the winner gets a gift. |

We do things for charities and we go and visit important people. We have a suggestion box & children put stuff they'd like to see happen in the box. One time we went go to see the Queen of England & The Duke of Edinburgh. We have a meeting nearly every Wednesday, we also choose what charity we'd like to donate to. The school councillors and other people from year6 made a DVD about how the infant children will like the new primary school. Every meeting we have we talk about the suggestion and if they are possible. One example was "can we get more comfortable chairs"; Mrs.Barff said no because we would us a new school. So really this school is very lucky. The school councillors give information to their class. School councillors in year 6 are leaving and will probably miss being a school councillor. KNH (Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing) came in for 5 days to do some work with year 6. They organised two competitions;1. one was a time capsule where we had to write 10 things down that we thought were going to change in 100 years time.2. the other one was to design a new housing estate to cater for the needs of all ages in a community. On one of the 5 days we went to Bradford Industrial Museum. We went
on the 5th of June 2007, and there were three groups. We went round the
museum and we saw all the things that people did in the past. We also
had a chance to wash clothes how they used to, without a washing machine.
While we were walking to the house to wash the clothes we saw another
house we also had the chance to go inside and look through the living
room door. It was different then than now, because instead of having an
electric iron they had to put it over the fire to warm it up. We saw all
the machines that people used in the past and the people who used them
got most of their fingers got chopped off.
